Andres Jaque's Rolling House

I found this project interesting as it deals with issues concerning the change in the nature and idea of the 'traditional' housing type. Modular architecture deals with this issue of ever changing societal values. This project is based around community living and shared spaces. Spaces are confronting and the home is no longer a 'sweet, unpolitical space' but a 'public arena' where we face otherness' (Andres Jaque). Some quotes of interest to me and our DAB510 project by Jaque are:

'There is no such thing as a traditional family anymore'

'I believe architecture must adapt to reality'

This model of housing could be applied to our modular theme. Materials are recycled as well as shared. When the need arises for additional dwellings new modules could be added. It also creates community living and social interaction.
